Designed and crafted by Bartek Urbański in a small workshop in the Bieszczady Mountains, southeast Poland. Birk is a collection of minimalistic chopping boards inspired by traditional shapes.///Description
These soft-edged pieces require meticulous hand sanding before being treated with food-safe oil. Their organic forms and smooth finishes contrast with their purpose. The black tone in the oxidised oak series comes from the natural darkening of oak tannins, whilst the fumed oak is a result of ammonia fumes. Unlike staining which only colours the surface, both of these methods penetrate deeper into the wood.
